QUITO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa on Thursday appointed Nataly Morillo as his new minister of government as part of a cabinet reshuffle, said the General Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency.
Morillo previously served as a legislator for the ruling National Democratic Action movement in the National Assembly.
Her appointment follows the withdrawal of Alvaro Rosero, who declined the post after being appointed to it on Nov. 18.
Rosero stepped aside amid widespread criticism for his lack of experience in the public sector, which raised doubts about his ability to lead a key ministry.
Morillo, who holds a degree in social communication, becomes the sixth person to serve as minister of government since Noboa took office in November 2023.
Noboa has made multiple changes to his cabinet after losing the Nov. 16 referendum and constitutional reform vote on political and security issues.
The presidency said that the cabinet shuffle aimed to "strengthen the National Government's ability to address the country's needs." Enditem
