ULAN BATOR, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian parliament on Thursday elected Nyam-Osor Uchral as its new speaker through a vote of 82.5 percent in the country's 126-seat parliament.
The incumbent chairman of Mongolian People's Party replaced Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan, who formally presented his resignation request during a meeting in October.
"Since the supreme power of the state belongs solely to the Mongolian people, I will work diligently to uphold the Constitution and strengthen our democratic statehood and parliamentary government, which have their origins and roots in the people," Uchral told the parliament.
The 38-year-old has been elected as a member of the parliament three times in 2016, 2020 and 2024. Enditem
