HAVANA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Hongting Forum: Seminar in Havana has been held recently in the Cuban capital, bringing together journalists, scholars and diplomats to discuss China's development outlook and China-Cuba cooperation.
Co-hosted on Wednesday by Xinhua News Agency, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Cuba's Institute of Information and Social Communication, the forum offered a platform to reflect on China's modernization process and its global relevance.
Ricardo Ronquillo, president of the Cuban Journalists' Union, said that China's people-centered development model and continuity in socialist modernization serve as "an example of strategic planning and perseverance."
While China and Cuba have different national contexts, Ronquillo said, China's experience provides valuable insights for improving Cuba's socialist model, especially in planning and public participation.
At the forum, Xinhua representatives presented key outcomes of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, saying that participants deliberated over and adopted the Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development.
Eduardo Regalado, researcher at the International Policy Research Center of Cuba, said that modern planning in China uses flexible indicators that adjust to social and economic dynamics, which has been key to its sustained success.
Jorge Leganoa, president of Prensa Latina news agency, praised China's approach to global cooperation. "China does not extend its hand from a position of superiority, but from a genuine will to build together and face common challenges such as hunger, climate change and hegemony."
Valia Marquinez, a journalist at Cubavision International, shared impressions from her recent visits to China, describing it as "a country advancing daily with rising living standards."
She highlighted China's progress in digitalization, clean energy and biotechnology, noting that Cuba is cooperating with China in these fields through the Belt and Road Initiative. Enditem
