DAMASCUS, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and several others wounded on Saturday evening after unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a cafe in the western countryside of the central Syrian province of Homs, Syria's interior authorities said in a statement.
The statement said the attackers carried out random gunfire inside the crowded cafe before fleeing the scene. Local authorities immediately cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence to identify the perpetrators.
According to the authorities, specialized units have launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the attack and are working "to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice," while additional security measures have been taken to protect civilians and maintain public order.
