The DPRK has fired 100 rockets and artillery shells off its east coast. The projectiles fired on Monday landed north of the maritime border between South Korea and the DPRK.
A South Korean Defence Ministry Spokesperson said that South Korea hadn’t returned fire but confirmed the South’s military readiness to respond to the North’s provocations. The DPRK has recently conducted a number of rocket and missile tests, including two ballistic missile launches on Sunday.
Analysts say these are a demonstration of the DPRK’s anger against joint South Korea-US military exercises planned for later this week.
