Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Tuesday refuted remarks made by U.S. ambassador to Japan George Glass on the social media platform X, calling them a purely political stunt.
Glass's remarks related to China are inconsistent with the role and duties of a diplomat, Mao told a daily news briefing.
The U.S.-Japan alliance is a product of the Cold War and should not be directed against any third party, nor should it arbitrarily interfere in the internal affairs of other countries or harm their core interests, she added.
