NINGBO, China, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- India's 20-year-old Esha Singh narrowly edged out China's Yao Qianxun by 0.1 point in the women's 10m air pistol final, capturing her first individual World Cup gold on Saturday.

In the final, Singh led the first stage with a score of 101.1 and maintained her lead throughout the elimination stage, while Yao gradually moved into second place, trailing Singh by 1.1 points after 18 shots.

On the third-to-last shot, Yao scored 10.7 to Singh's 9.5, narrowing the difference to 0.5. In the final two shots, Singh scored 10.0 and 9.7, while Yao shot 10.1 and 10.0, leaving Singh with a 0.1-point victory.

Yao, who had previously won gold in the mixed 10m air pistol team with Hu Kai, claimed silver, marking her second medal of the event. South Korea's Oh Ye-jin took bronze, while another Chinese finalist Zeng Zhuwenxi finished in eighth place.

"I don't really look at the screen in front. I don't compete with other players," Singh said. "I just focus on what I have to do and my own process. It is a battle in my mind."

20-year-old Yao, who has won eight World Cup medals this year, said: "It is an honor for me, but everything is just beginning. There is still a long way to go, and I have to keep working hard."

In another final of the day, Germany's reigning European champion Florian Peter claimed the men's 25m rapid fire pistol title, with France's Jean Quiquampoix and Clement Bessaguet taking silver and bronze respectively.

The Ningbo World Cup will conclude on Sunday with the men's 50m rifle three positions and women's 10m air rifle finals. Enditem
