Construction is moving ahead across key industrial projects in Ordos. At the Nalin River Industrial Park in the Sulige Economic Development Zone, more than 5,000 workers are advancing the Zhuozheng coal-to-chemicals expansion project.

With a total investment of 59 billion yuan — 24.5 billion yuan for its first phase — the project aims to upgrade the coal chemical industry toward cleaner, more efficient and more diversified development.
Of the 146 planned construction tasks, 128 have been completed, and several major facilities, including the gasification unit and the fourth circulating water system, have already been delivered ahead of schedule.
In Jungar Banner, the Yidong high-tech kaolin materials project is also nearing operation. The 230-million-yuan project is the country's first standardized production line for coal-based kaolin.
Once launched, it will process 1 million tonnes of coal gangue annually, turning industrial waste into high-value materials and forming a closed-loop recycling system.
Jungar Banner, a major coal-producing area with abundant high-alumina coal gangue reserves, has in recent years promoted the shift from waste disposal to high-value utilization.

More than 30 new materials projects are now clustered in the local industrial park, producing a growing range of innovative products and forming an integrated industry–academia–research ecosystem.
From advanced coal-chemical projects to coal-waste recycling facilities, these developments are strengthening Ordos' industrial foundations and driving the city's high-quality growth.
